Can you file for divorce in Michigan?

As a general rule, a foreign marriage that is legally performed and valid abroad is also legally valid in the United States unless the marriage would break state law (Michigan Divorce law).   For example, in some countries you can be married to more than one person. In Michigan you can only be married to one person. Therefore, you cannot obtain a divorce from a polygamous marriage in Michigan. However, provided the marriage is valid, you can filed for divorce in Michigan if you meet the residency requirements to do so.

Michigan Compiled Laws Section 552.9

The residency requirements to file for divorce in Michigan can be found in Michigan Compiled Laws section 552.9. One of the parties must live in the State of Michigan for 180 days immediately proceeding the filing of the Complaint for Divorce and in the county in which the Compliant for Divorce is filed for 10 days immediately proceeding the filing of the Complaint for Divorce.

Simply put, it does not matter were you married. As long as either you or your spouse have lived in Michigan for you can file for divorce in the County were you have lived for at least 10 days immediately preceding filing.
